The ixetic GmbH was a supplier to the automotive industry, in the development and production of hydraulic and vacuum pumps was the world leader for freight and passenger cars. The company was acquired and incorporated by the Canadian supplier Magna International in 2012 .

history

The history of Ixetic begins with the founding of the barmag machine factory in Wuppertal in 1922. Another forerunner company was Vickers Germany, founded in Bad Homburg in 1956 , which supplied Mercedes-Benz from 1961 and started producing power steering pumps in Bad Homburg two years later. Vickers built the Zeppelinstrasse plant in 1971 and supplied the first vacuum pumps to Audi and VW seven years later . A big step in the direction of today's corporate form took place in 1991 when a joint venture between LuK and barmag (BarLuK) came about and in the same year the automotive hydraulics division of Vickers was taken over by LuK. Two years later, BarLuK became LuK Automobiltechnik Hückeswagen as a subsidiary of LuK Fahrzeughydraulik Bad Homburg . The first continuously variable transmissions were manufactured from 1997 and landing gear pumps were delivered for the first time two years later. In 2005 the production of air conditioning compressors was added.

Ixetic was spun off from the LuK Group (Fahrzeug-Hydraulik GmbH & Co. KG) in March 2006 . The new owner of the company was the investment company Motion Equity Partners (formerly Cognetas). Sales rose from 286 million euros (2006) to around 300 million euros in 2012. In 2007, Ixetic won the Hessen Champions 2007 award, world market leader in chassis pumps on behalf of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development. A joint venture with DSI in Bangalore (India) was established in 2009, followed by an assembly plant in China in 2010.

Magna International announced in October 2012 that it had signed an agreement to acquire the company. The purchase price to be paid for 100% of the outstanding shares in Ixetic was approximately EUR 308 million. In 2018, Magna sold its Global Fluid Pressure & Controls Business to the Korean automotive supplier Hanon Systems .
