Izabela Maria Furtado Kestler
Izabela Maria Furtado Kestler (born as Izabela Maria Furtado de Sant'Anna on June 20, 1959 in Rio de Janeiro ; † June 1, 2009 on Air France flight 447 ) was a Brazilian German studies specialist .
Kestler received his doctorate in 1992 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg with a thesis on the exile literature and the exile of German-speaking writers and publicists in Brazil . From 1989 to 1993 she lived in Freiburg, Bonn and Stuttgart. From 2006 to 2009 she taught and researched as a professor of German studies at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro .
Kestler was a co-founder of the Associação Goethe do Brasil, which was founded in 2009 . Her estate on exile literature is in the Casa Stefan Zweig in Rio de Janeiro.
Izabela Maria Furtado Kestler died in the Air France Flight 447 plane crash on June 1, 2009.
