Ján Tánczos (born November 20, 1955 ) is a former Czechoslovakian ski jumper .

Career

Tánczos started in 1976 in the Four Hills Tournament . When he took part for the first time, he was able to jump into the top ten with 9th place in Innsbruck . However, his results were very changeable, which is why he was never able to achieve a good placement in the tour's overall ranking. In 1979 he was part of the Czechoslovak squad for the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup . The 1979/80 Four Hills Tournament was unsuccessful for him. It was only in his first World Cup after the tour on March 2, 1980 in Vikersund that he was able to jump onto the podium with third place in ski flying. However, it was his only podium and also his last top 10 position of his career. In Lahti he was able to win another World Cup point with 15th place. At the end of the 1979/80 season he finished 46th in the overall World Cup ranking. The 1980/81 season was initially just as unsuccessful as the previous season. In the 1980/81 Four Hills Tournament , he only achieved lower places. It was not until the last World Cup of his career on January 8, 1981 that he was able to win three more World Cup points on the large hill in Harrachov and thus achieved 60th place in the overall World Cup ranking.

In the 2011/2012 season he was the head coach of the Slovak ski jumpers.
