János Takács [ ˈjaːnoʃ ˈtɒkaːtʃ ] (born December 5, 1954 ) is a former Hungarian table tennis player .

Life

In 1979, Takács became world champions in Pyongyang with the Hungarian team, which also included Gábor Gergely , István Jónyer , Tibor Klampár and Tibor Kreisz . He still took part in the 1985 World Championships and the 1978 and 1980 European Championships .

Takács initially played football, but eventually decided to play table tennis. He was initially trained by Zoltán Berczik . After twenty years at VSC Budapest - during this time he was Hungarian champion eight times - Takács went to the German Bundesliga in 1986 , where he played for Spvg Steinhagen for a year . In 1987 he moved to ATSV Saarbrücken , with whom he became German team champion in 1989. Further stations were TTC Frickenhausen (1990, 2nd Bundesliga), Spvg. Ludwigsburg and TSV Elektronik Gornsdorf (1993), FC Neureut , Geneva (from 2000).

In 2007 he started for Switzerland , where he plays with the club CTT Carouge in the NLC class, at the Senior European Championship and won the gold medal in the O50 singles.
