Tibor Kreisz (born April 16, 1958 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian table tennis player . He took part in three world championships and two European championships and won four medals.

Career

Tibor Kreisz started playing table tennis when he was twelve. At first he tried his hand at attacking, but coach László Pigniczki retrained him as a defender. As early as 1995 he was the Hungarian team champion with the men's team of Spartacus Budapest . In 1976 he joined Postas Budapest .

In 1978 he was nominated for the European Championship . Here he reached the semi-finals in the singles, with the Hungarian team he became European champion. A year later he became world champion in the team competition . At the 1981 World Cup he reached the final with the team. In 1987 he took part in a World Cup for the last time and remained without winning a medal.

In mid-1978 he was ranked 13th in the ITTF world rankings .

From the mid-1980s he played in Dutch and Belgian clubs, in 1989 he became Belgian team champion.

In 2001 Tibor Kreisz was injured so badly in a car accident that he had to end his career as a competitive athlete.
