Jógvan Isaksen
Jógvan Isaksen (born August 25, 1950 in Tórshavn , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese writer , best known abroad for his crime novels .
Life
Jógvan is the son of Magnhild Isaksen and Reimar Isaksen, who both come from Gøta .
After graduating from high school in Tórshavn in 1970, he studied Scandinavian studies at the University of Aarhus , where he received his master's degree in Nordic literature in 1982 . As early as 1978 he became head of the oldest publishing house in Faroe Islands, "Mentunargrunnur Studentafelagsins", founded in 1914. Since 1986 he has been a lecturer at the University of Copenhagen , where he teaches Faroese . Since 2000 he has been editor-in-chief of the Nordic Council's Nordisk Litteratur magazine .
Jógvan Isaksen has been a writer since 1978 and received the Faroe Islands Literature Prize in 1994 for his specialist literary book Í hornatøkum við Prokrustes on the writer Hanus Andreassen (Hanus Kamban), but also for his oeuvre, which has Faroese literature as its main subject.
The crime thriller Blíð er summarnátt á Føroyalandi from 1990 was the first internationally recognized crime thriller in the Faroese language. Also brought into Danish by the author himself , it was translated into Icelandic after publication , and later also into German and English . The title literally means Mild is the summer night in the Faroe Islands , where he chose the poetic form Føroyaland for Føroyar . For the German new edition of 2006, the Faroe Islands terminus was chosen. The second of so far five titles about the journalist Hannis Martinsson - Gráur oktober - was published in 2007 in German under the title Option Färöer .
