Jón Steindór Valdimarsson

Jón Steindór Valdimarsson (born June 27, 1958 in Akureyri ) is an Icelandic politician ( Viðreisn ).

Jón Steindór Valdimarsson is a lawyer (graduated from the University of Iceland in 1985) and holds a Master of Project Management from the University of Reykjavík (2013). For many years he was the managing director of the Icelandic industry association Samtök iðnaðarins and various Icelandic companies. From 2009 to 2016, Jón Steindór Valdimarsson was chairman of the Já Ísland association , which aims to join Iceland in the EU . In 2016 he was one of the founders of the Viðreisn party .

In the parliamentary election on October 29, 2016 , Jón Steindór Valdimarsson was elected as Viðreisn's candidate for the southwest constituency in the Icelandic parliament Althing . As of October 2017, he is Deputy Group Chairman of Viðreisn. He is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs and Trade and the Constitutional and Oversight Committee and is a member of the Icelandic delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly .
