Józef Brodowski
Józef Brodowski the Elder (* 1772 in Warsaw , † 1853 in Krakow ) was a Polish painter .
Life
With the support of Princess Izabela Czartoryska he was able to study painting with Joseph Abel and Johann Baptist von Lampi in Vienna . In 1805 he went to Łańcut , 1809 to Cracow, where he was a professor at the Art Academy from 1816 to 1842 . He was a representative of classicism in painting and mainly painted historical and religious pictures, genre pictures and portraits.
