Jörg Böttcher (engineer)

Jörg Böttcher (born September 17, 1964 in Augsburg ) is a German engineer and holder of the professorship for control engineering and electrical measurement technology in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich .

Life

Böttcher passed the Abitur at the Deutschherren-Gymnasium in Aichach in 1983, and studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 1983 to 1988 . From 1988 to 1991 he was a research associate at the Institute for Measurement and Automation Technology at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . He did his doctorate there with a dissertation on a sensor system for monitoring strain and tension in concrete structures. From 1992 to 1995 he worked as a development engineer, product manager and later head of product management and division manager at Ultrakust Electronic GmbH (later Bartec ).

In 1995 he became professor for control engineering and electrical measurement technology at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich. In the 2007–2009 term of office he was Vice President of the university and was responsible for a. the introduction of new Bachelor / Master courses and the expansion of contacts with medium-sized companies.

At the same time, he acted as founder and managing director of b-plus GmbH (1996–2005) and scientific managing director of the Society for Intelligent Technical Systems (2015–2018). He is also active as a reviewer, specialist author and seminar leader.

Böttcher is the author of numerous specialist articles. He has u. a. published two compendia on the topics of measurement data acquisition (2015) and measurement technology (2017). He is the editor of a technology study in the field of Internet of Things and a freely accessible online compendium on measurement technology and sensors.

Böttcher is married and has two children. With his wife he is an active dance tournament athlete and was u. a. multiple Bavarian national champion. He has his main residence in Deggendorf , the second residence is Munich .
