Jörg Föste

Jörg Föste (born November 29, 1960 in Solingen ) is a German entrepreneur, former handball department head and was managing director of the Bundesliga handball club Bergischer HC from January 2013 to July 2015 .

Life

Föste attended the Bünkenberg-Widdert elementary school , then the Schwertstraße high school in Solingen . After graduating from high school, he studied economics with a focus on business administration at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . After completing his studies, he founded the company Föste-Werbe-Agentur , which today employs over 30 people under the name Conceptum . He gained a lot of attention through regional projects, including the restoration of the Ohligs town hall complex.

Career as a handball official

Föstes first activity in handball was in 1989 when he took over the management of the sports ring Höhscheid , which in 1998 merged with the PSVg Jahn Solingen in the SG Solingen . In 1992 he rose to the top division, in 1994 finally to the 3rd division. In 1995 he succeeded in hiring well-known players such as the coach Bob Hanning (today managing director of the first division club Füchse Berlin ) as well as the players Florian Kehrmann (today German national player at TBV Lemgo ) and Torsten Jansen (German national player and coach at HSV Hamburg ). In 1996, the club was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga . Föste took a break from 1996 to 1998, after which he was part of the economic council of SG Solingen. As early as 2000, the club posted promotion to the handball Bundesliga , two years later the first descent followed.

In 2006 Föste was finally a founding member and shareholder of Bergischer HC , which arose from a merger of SG Solingen with the neighboring LTV Wuppertal . At the same time, he was a member of the founding of the Group Club Handball , an amalgamation of several top European clubs. In 2010 he became a member of the advisory board of Bergisches HC, and a year later he was promoted to the handball Bundesliga with this club. After Stefan Adam switched to the German record champions THW Kiel , Föste became managing director of Bergischer HC in January 2013.
