Hans Robert "Bob" Hanning (born February 9, 1968 in Essen ) is a German handball trainer and sports official .

Career

His coaching career began at TV Cronenberg in Essen . He then became an assistant trainer and A youth trainer at TUSEM Essen . His next coaching station was the SG Solingen . With this team he rose to the handball league.

Until the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, Hanning was assistant to national coach Heiner Brand and head coach of the B national team. He then moved to HC Wuppertal as a coach and then to SG Willstätt / Schutterwald . At the same time he was a DHB base trainer for the youth.

On December 17, 2002, he replaced the resigned coach Anders Fältnäs at HSV Hamburg . On May 2, 2005, Hanning resigned after a "player revolt" and dissolved his contract with HSV.

In July 2005 the CDU politician and entrepreneur Frank Steffel took him on as managing director of the Reinickendorfer Füchse Handball Vermarktungsgesellschaft mbH in Berlin , which is the economic sponsor of Füchse Berlin . With Hanning as manager and coach Jörn-Uwe Lommel , the Füchse Berlin celebrated promotion to the first Bundesliga at the end of the 2006/07 season and held the class in the following season. In 2011, the Füchse Berlin qualified for the EHF Champions League for the first time under Hanning's leadership .

Hanning is known for his youth work. In Berlin he trains the A-youth of the foxes. Hanning is considered to be the discoverer of Torsten Jansen and Florian Kehrmann , both of whom he trained at SG Solingen . In 2006 Hanning brought the still unknown talent Konrad Wilczynski from Austria to Berlin. With 237 goals Wilczynski immediately became the best scorer in the league in the first season in the upper house.

The trained businessman Hanning was often a co-commentator on handball games on Sport1 . His nickname "Napoleon", which he bears because of his stature, appearance and demeanor, he himself caricatured with photos in Napoleonic uniforms.

In October 2011, Hanning received the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin from the Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit . The federal capital honored his services and commitment in the sports city of Berlin.

Hanning has been Vice President of the German Handball Federation since 2013 .
