Torsten Jansen (born December 23, 1976 in Adenau ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player . He was mainly used in the left wing position.
Career
Torsten Jansen (nickname Toto ) played from 2003 at HSV Hamburg in the first German handball league . Before that he played at SG Solingen and HSG Nordhorn . During his playing days he was considered a strong defensive player, who was therefore often used on the defensive in half position.
He scored 503 goals in 178 games for the German national team. When he won the 2007 Handball World Cup , he was the safest goal scorer: Around 90% of his goal throws resulted in hits (37 out of 41 throws). For this triumph he was awarded the silver bay leaf .
Jansen, known up to now for his fair play, was recognized by the disciplinary committee of the handball Bundesliga in May 2013 for a serious foul (headbutt) against Ivan Ninčević in a game against the Füchse Berlin for ten championship games, a maximum of two months for national championship games of the handball team.
