Dominik Walter Roland Klein (born December 16, 1983 in Miltenberg ) is a former German handball player who last played in France at HBC Nantes . His nickname is "Mini". He played on left winger .
Career
Dominik Klein started playing handball at TUSPO Obernburg , switched from there to TV Großwallstadt in 2002 and to SG Wallau / Massenheim in 2003 . In 2005 the THW Kiel became interested in him. But since the THW squad was already sufficiently staffed for the season and the SG Wallau / Massenheim was determined to be relegated at the end of the season, he moved again to Großwallstadt for a year. In 2006 he came to Kiel.
He made his international debut on January 4, 2003 in Stuttgart against the Hungarian national team . He celebrated one of his greatest successes on February 4, 2007 with the German national handball team by winning the handball world championship . For this triumph he was awarded the silver bay leaf . In addition, Klein won all relevant German titles in the 2006/07 season. The EHF Champions League Klein won the 2009/10 and 2011/12 in the 2006/07 season. He also won the German championship title with the THW in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 as well as the DHB Cup in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In December 2013 he extended his contract with THW Kiel until June 30, 2016. He then moved to the French first division club HBC Nantes . He ended his career in summer 2018.
2015 Klein was in recognition of his career from the Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister Torsten Albig with the Sport badge of Schleswig-Holstein excellent.

Klein is regularly active as an ARD expert on handball broadcasts, including the broadcasts of the European Handball Championship 2020 .
Private
On July 3, 2009, Klein married his long-time girlfriend Isabell Nagel in Bensheim , who was last active in France at Nantes Loire Atlantique handball and in the national team . On February 23, 2014, they became parents to a boy.
