Dean Bombač (born April 4, 1989 in Koper , SR Slovenia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian handball player who is mostly used on the back center .
The 1.88 m tall and 92 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball in his hometown at RK Koper , where he was part of the professional team from 2007. In 2009 he won the Slovenian championship and in 2008, 2009 and 2011 the cup. Internationally, he reached the semifinals in the EHF Cup 2007/08 with Koper , the group stage of the EHF Champions League 2008/09 , the 4th round in the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2009/10 , the quarterfinals in the EHF Champions League 2011/12 and the group stage in the EHF Europa Pokal 2012/13 . His greatest success was winning the EHF Challenge Cup 2010/11 .
In the summer of 2013 he joined the Belarusian champions HC Dinamo Minsk , with whom he was eliminated in the group stage of the EHF Champions League 2013/14 . After Minsk withdrew from all competitions in February 2014 due to financial difficulties, Bombač moved to the French club Pays d'Aix UC until the end of the season . For the 2014/15 season he signed a two-year contract with the Hungarian club Pick Szeged . In summer 2016 he moved to the Polish first division club KS Kielce . With Kielce he won the Polish championship in 2017 and 2018 and the Polish cup in 2017 and 2018. In summer 2018 he returned to Pick Szeged. With Szeged he won the Hungarian Cup in 2019.
For the Slovenian national team , Dean Bombač has so far played 89 international matches , in which he scored 168 goals. He was in the preliminary squad for the European Handball Championship in 2012 , but was not called into the final squad. He was a member of the Slovenian squad at the 2016 Olympic Games . At the U-21 World Cup in 2009, he scored 44 goals in ten games and won the bronze medal.
