Jonas Maier (born January 12, 1994 in Schwetzingen ) is a German handball player .

The right-handed player plays in the goalkeeper position . In 2008 he moved from his home club TSG Eintracht Plankstadt to the youth of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen . In 2012 he signed a professional contract with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen for two years, which was extended in 2013 for two more years until 2016. In 2013 he won the EHF European Cup with the lions . From the 2013/14 season he played with the cadets Schaffhausen in the Swiss National League A . With Schaffhausen he won the Swiss championship in 2014 and 2015 and the SHV Cup in 2014 . In summer 2015 he moved to TBV Lemgo . In summer 2017 he joined the TVB 1898 Stuttgart . After the 2018/19 season he moved to SG BBM Bietigheim . On February 16, 2020 it was announced that he was moving to the handball sports club Hamburg with immediate effect .

Maier was part of the German youth team for which he has played 27 international matches and with which he won the U-18 European Championship in 2012 .

Maier won the U-20 European Championship in 2014 with the German junior national team .

He is 1.87 meters tall and weighs 84 kg. In 2013 he graduated from the Carl-Theodor School in Schwetzingen and has been a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group since September 2013 .
