Jonas Gertges (born December 4, 1997 in Minden ) is a German handball player . He plays in the left wing position and is currently under contract with the second division Handball Sport Verein Hamburg .

Career

Gertges began playing handball in 2004 in his hometown at GWD Minden and went through all of his youth. After a fibula fracture in September 2015, he reached the semi-finals of the German A-Youth Championship at the end of the 2015/16 season , where he lost to the eventual champions SC DHfK Leipzig . Then he played for three years for the second team in the third division . During this time he scored a total of 389 goals. During this time, he was also used sporadically in the Bundesliga team. On November 2, 2017, he was in the Bundesliga squad for the first time in the home game against VfL Gummersbach . He made his first appearance against the same opponent on December 2, 2018, where he also scored his first Bundesliga goal. After 15 years he left GWD Minden and has been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga for the handball sports club Hamburg since the 2019/20 season .

Private

Gertges completed vocational training as a real estate agent in 2019 .
