Jörn-Uwe Lommel (born February 21, 1958 in Siegen ) is a German handball coach and former national player .
Career
Coming from the youth of RSV Eiserfeld in Siegerland , he began his career in Leverkusen. Through the stations TUSEM Essen and TSV Bayer Dormagen he came to TV Niederwürzbach , where he ended his active career in 1993. He played a total of 210 Bundesliga games and scored 293 goals. As a national player, he played 14 international matches for Germany.
Lommel's first coaching station was TV Niederwürzbach, with which he won the Euro City Cup in 1995 . He came to Switzerland to the Grasshoppers Zurich via TUSEM Essen and the TuS Nettelstedt . After a year he became the national coach of Egypt. In 2005 he took over the second division team Füchse Berlin , which he led into the handball Bundesliga . From December 2009 he had a three-year contract as head coach for the entire youth team under the Egyptian national team, where he was national coach from 2003 to 2005. From 2014 to 2017 he was the assistant coach of his team-mate Alfreð Gíslason in Essen at THW Kiel . From spring 2018 to autumn 2019, he coached the Chinese women's national team .
