Jörg Faust

Jörg Faust (* 1967 ) is a German social scientist , director of the German Evaluation Institute for Development Cooperation and an adjunct professor of political science at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

Career

Jörg Faust studied politics and economics at the University of Mannheim and graduated with a degree in business administration . In 1999 he completed his doctorate in political science at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with summa cum laude. After holding a professorship at the University of Mainz, he worked at the German Development Institute from 2004 , where from 2007 to 2014 he headed the department for “Governance, Statehood, Security”. In 2013 he was appointed to an unscheduled professorship at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the subject of political science. Since the beginning of 2015 he has been director of the German Evaluation Institute for Development Cooperation. His main thematic focuses are bilateral and multilateral development cooperation, political determinants of economic development as well as democratization and decentralization processes in developing and emerging countries. In addition, he has many years of experience in the field of quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical social research and evaluation as well as in the management of complex evaluations and research projects.

Faust is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI). He also acts as co-spokesman for the working group for development cooperation of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes EADI . Faust is also vice chairman of the OECD / DAC evaluation network.
