Jörg Hilbert (born January 28, 1965 ) is a German children's book author and illustrator. His best-known work are the stories about the knight rust , which were set to music by Felix Janosa .

Life

Jörg Hilbert grew up in Sindelfingen . During his school days he published his first caricatures and cartoons in newspapers and magazines. At a young age he was encouraged and supported by the Austrian illustrator Paul Flora .

After his community service he began studying communication design at the University of Essen in 1987, which he graduated with a diploma in 1992. Since then he has participated in numerous exhibitions as a draftsman and published books with pictures, poems and stories. Hilbert was best known for his Ritter Rost children's book musicals (music by Felix Janosa ), which, in their theatrical version, are among the most popular children's plays in German-speaking countries. The stories were filmed several times for the cinema and ran as a series in two seasons on ZDF and KIKA.

Together with chess trainer Björn Lengwenus , he continued to design the children's chess software Fritz & Ready . The software has appeared in over twenty countries and has won several awards, including the TOMMI children's software award , which is presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair . In the meantime there have also been several book implementations of the concept.

Hilbert also appears as a reciter and musician. His instrument is the lute. He lives and works in the Ruhr area. His daughter is the voice actress Tabea Hilbert .
