Bjorn Lengwenus

Björn Lengwenus (* 1972 ) is a Hamburg school principal and German game teacher specializing in chess and computer chess .

Life

Growing up in the Hamburg district of Barmbek , he received his training as a game teacher at the Remscheid Academy . As a teenager he played chess with Hamburger SK . In 1990 he was one of the founding members of the Schachelschweine chess club , to which he has belonged ever since. As a chess player , he reached his so far highest DWZ in 2004 with 2012.

As a student, Björn Lengwenus and the children's book author Jörg Hilbert designed the multi-award-winning children's chess software " Fritz & Ready " from the Hamburg company ChessBase .

In addition, he works as a chess trainer, is the professional headmaster of a Hamburg district school and teaches religion and geography .

During the school closings due to the COVID-19 pandemic 2020, Lengwenus gained national attention with a late night show for its students.

Awards

In 2007 he received the German Chess Prize, the highest award given by the German Chess Federation , for “Fritz & Ready” and his work in school chess .
