Jörg Schnekenburger

Jörg Schnekenburger (born December 2, 1928 in Backnang ; † July 25, 1988 in Kiel ) was a German pharmacist and pharmaceutical chemist.

Life

Jörg Schnekenburger, son of a grammar school teacher, attended the grammar school in his hometown, was a pharmacy intern in Backnang from 1948 to 1950 and passed the pharmaceutical pre- examination in 1950 . From 1951 he studied pharmacy at the University of Tübingen , passed the state examination in pharmaceuticals there in 1954 and went to Kiel in 1956 with his teacher Otto Erich Schultz , where he received his PhD in 1957. rer. nat. doctorate and habilitation in pharmacy in 1963. In 1968 Schnekenburger was appointed associate professor and in 1969 scientific councilor and full professor. He turned down a call to the University of Berlin in 1980.

As a scientist, Schnekenburger dealt with organic synthesis and pharmacopoeia analysis. He also worked in the field of reactivators of the organophosphate- inhibited acetylcholinesterase as well as the muscarinic antagonists or agonists with a pyrrolizidine structure . Another area of ​​his work was the development of substances to inhibit the rapid breakdown of certain drugs in the liver . He also carried out biopharmaceutical research. He put his research results down in around 80 publications.
