Jörg Seiler

Jörg Seiler (* 1966 in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt ) is a German Catholic church historian .

Life

The civil service , he graduated from 1987 to 1989 in the nursing home Staigacker in Backnang . At the University of Würzburg he studied Catholic theology ( graduate theologian ) (1989–1994) and history (MA) (1990–1996). In November 1996 he became a research assistant at the professorship for church history at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main with Hubert Wolf . He trained as a systemic consultant (2000–2002) . From 2001 to 2003 he completed his doctorate as Dr. theol. in Würzburg with Klaus Ganzer . The dissertation was awarded the Prize of the Lower Franconian Memorial Year Foundation for Science . In December 2002 he became a marketing assistant at the Neuer Weg bookstore in Würzburg. In October 2003 he was appointed junior professor for church history at the University of Koblenz . From October 2009 he taught as a teacher at the Oberursel grammar school (religion, history, Latin). From February 2011 he headed the Office for Catholic Religious Education in Frankfurt am Main . From April 2015 he was the professor for church history of the Middle Ages and modern times at the University of Erfurt , which he took over in June 2015. In autumn 2019 he was elected dean of the theological faculty in Erfurt.
