Benedikt Kranemann

Benedikt Kranemann (born December 13, 1959 in Münster ) is a German professor for liturgical science at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Erfurt .

biography

Kranemann studied Catholic theology , German and philosophy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. From 1988 to 1994 he was a research assistant to Professor Clement judge and university professor at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster, where he specialized in 1989 in Liturgical Studies doctorate . His habilitation took place in 1994.

From 1994 to 1998 he was a private lecturer at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Münster and from 1995 to 1998 he was also head of the scientific library of the German Liturgical Institute in Trier. He also taught at the Catholic theological faculties in Trier and Friborg. Since 1998 he has been professor of liturgical science at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Erfurt. From 2003 to 2008 he was dean of the faculty. He was a member of the university council from 2008 to 2016. He has been Vice President for Research and Young Scientists at the University of Erfurt since October 23, 2017. He heads the Theological Research College at the University of Erfurt and is spokesman for the Research Center Dynamics of Ritual Practices in Judaism in Pluralistic Contexts from Antiquity to the Present .

Benedikt Kranemann is chairman of the working group of Catholic liturgical scholars in the German-speaking area and spokesman for the university focus on religion at the University of Erfurt. Since 1999 he has been a member of the board of the German Liturgical Institute. As spokesman for the Working Group of Theological Disciplines (until October 2017), he was often the leader of the “Mainz Conversations”. Since 2012 he has been a member of Review Board 107 (Theologies) of the German Research Foundation . He is an advisor to various commissions of the German Bishops' Conference . In January 2018, Kranemann endorsed the proposal of the Osnabrück Bishop Franz-Josef Bode to enable a liturgical blessing for same-sex couples .
