Martin Stuflesser

Martin Stuflesser (born June 12, 1970 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , liturgical scholar and university professor .

Live and act

From 1989 Stuflesser studied theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and until 1994 at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster . On February 6, 1998, he received his doctorate as a “Doctor of Theology” with the overall rating “summa cum laude” with the dissertation “Memoria Passionis. Liturgical theological studies on the relationship between lex orandi and lex credendi using the example of the concept of sacrifice in the post-Vatican Eucharistic prayers ”.

Since 1997 he has been a member of the international ecumenical association “ Societas Liturgica ”, of which he became secretary in 2003, and since 1998 a member of the “North American Academy of Liturgy”. From 2000 to 2006 he worked as a research assistant to Klemens Richter at the seminar for liturgical science in Münster. In 2004, Stuflesser qualified as a professor at the Department of Catholic Theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University. The appointment as a private lecturer and the granting of the "Venia legendi" for the subject of liturgical studies followed.

Martin Stuflesser has been professor of liturgical science at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Würzburg since 2007. In 2009 he was ordained a priest by the Bishop of Mainz , Cardinal Karl Lehmann .

Following the spring plenary meeting of the German Bishops' Conference in Hildesheim , his appointment as advisor was announced on Thursday, February 27, 2015.
