Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann

Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann (born July 20, 1897 in Dresden ; † November 23, 1984 there ) was a German painter and silhouette artist .

Life

Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann attended the secondary school for girls from 1912 to 1917 . From 1917 to 1922 she studied at the Dresden Academy of Applied Arts with Arno Drescher , Georg Erler and Oskar Seyffert . In 1922 she married Fritz Hausmann. From 1923 Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann worked as a freelance artist. Until 1963 she created numerous drawings, watercolors and later also silhouettes of well-known Dresden personalities as well as illustrations with motifs from folk festivals, in particular the Dresden bird meadow .

Until 1977, Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann worked as a press illustrator for Dresden newspapers. For this purpose , she created illustrations , vignettes and paper cuttings. Together with her professional colleague Elsa Sturm-Lindner , she documented countless Dresden theater and opera performances from the late 1940s to the 1970s. Drawings of theatrical performances were an alternative to the black and white theatrical photography customary at the time and were used to illustrate reviews . From 1948 to 1977 she created illustrations for the design of the Dresden State Theater's programs . Until 1956 she used paper cuttings and then pastels.

Hanna Hausmann-Kohlmann went on study trips to Switzerland , Italy , southern Slavia , Hungary and Paris . She last lived at the address "Am Bauernbusch 19" in Bühlau .
