Jörn Meissner
Jörn Meissner (* 1970 ) is a German economist , consultant and entrepreneur .
Career
After graduating from high school in 1989 at the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Gymnasium in Bergisch Gladbach , Meissner studied business administration at the University of Hamburg from 1990 to 1997 . From 1997 to 2005 he earned a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. at Columbia University in New York City . His PhD supervisors were Awi Federgruen and Costis Maglaras.
Act
Meissner is Professor of Supply Chain Management & Pricing Strategy at the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg. He also holds lectures at the University of Hamburg and was visiting professor at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the University of Mannheim. Meissner is the founder of Manhattan Review , a multinational test preparation and application consultancy based in New York .
Meissner's research focuses on supply chain management , production and revenue management . His articles have appeared in Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (MSOM) journals; Operations Research; Naval Research Logistics; European Journal of Operational Research and in several edited volumes. His article "Dynamic pricing strategies for multiproduct revenue management problem", written together with Costis Maglaras, was a finalist in the MSOM Best Paper Award 2009. As part of his research, he advises various Fortune 500 companies and startups.
Meissner has been quoted in Businessweek, Newsweek , The Independent , The Times and the Financial Times Deutschland. The Handelsblatt published several interviews with him and he is a regular columnist for the MBA supplement to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung .
