Jörn Pachl
Jörn Pachl (born April 15, 1964 in West Staaken , Falkensee community , Nauen district , today Berlin ) is professor and managing director of the Institute for Railway Engineering and Traffic Safety at the Technical University of Braunschweig and the author of several books in the railway engineering department.
Career
Pachl completed an apprenticeship in the operations service of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and then studied traffic engineering from 1984 to 1989 at the University of Transport in Dresden . After graduating with a degree in engineering, he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Traffic Safety Technology at the university. In 1991 he moved to the Deutsche Bundesbahn and received his doctorate in 1993 from the Technical University of Braunschweig on the subject of automatic train steering systems . In 1996 he was appointed university professor and took over the management of the Institute for Railway Engineering and Traffic Safety at the TU Braunschweig. Pachl is a founding member of the International Association of Railway Operations Research (IAROR) and a member of the Association of German Railway Engineers (VDEI), member of the Railroad Operating Technologies Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and Fellow of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE) .
In particular, Pachl researches aspects of railway operations, such as B. System technology, regulations, timetable and infrastructure planning. He is a co-founder of the “Mobility and Transport” course and initiator of the “Virtual Railway Operations Laboratory”.
