Jörn Vanhöfen

Jörn Vanhöfen (* 1961 in Dinslaken ) is a German photographer. He lives in Berlin .

Life and education

After graduating from high school in 1981, Jörn Vanhöfen completed an apprenticeship as a photographer at Thyssen Stahl AG. He then studied communication design with a focus on photography at the Folkwang School in Essen. In October 1989 he moved to the Academy of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig , which he then left in 1993 as a master class student . He worked for German and international magazines for many years before finishing his journalistic and photographic work in 2001. Since then he has worked exclusively in artistic photography. Jörn Vanhöfen is a member of the German Photographic Academy .

Teaching

Together with other photographers as well as with Prof. Arno Fischer and Prof. Manfred Schmalriede he founded the forum “ Photography on Schiffbauerdamm - fas” in 2000 . This forum included a private training center for photography and a gallery. He was a lecturer at the school and headed both institutions from 2000–2007. From 2007 he took on visiting lectureships at various universities in Europe and Africa.
