Horst Frerking

Horst Frerking (born January 22, 1934 in Hanover ) is a German veterinary surgeon and professor emeritus.

Career

Frerking graduated from high school in 1954 and then studied veterinary medicine in Marburg , where he joined the Arminia Marburg fraternity in 1954 , in Würzburg , Gießen and Hanover . He passed the two state exams in 1960 and 1967 . In between he received his doctorate in 1961 . In 1974 he completed his habilitation and in 1977 he was appointed professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover . From 1979 he was Vice Rector and Rector between 1981 and 1983 of the university. Visiting professorships took him to Guatemala , Brazil ,Morocco , Egypt and Sudan . After reaching the age limit, he retired in 1999 .

In addition, from 1970 he was an elected member of the chamber assembly of the Lower Saxony Veterinary Chamber. He was a member of its board of directors for twelve years, eight of which as Vice President. From 1976 he was on the board of the Academy for Veterinary Training. In 2001 he was appointed to the Albrecht Thaer Society .

Frerking is married and has two grown children.
