The Jewish cemetery Bützow is located in Dreibergen , a district of the city of Bützow in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is located on Landesstraße 11 to Kröpelin .

74 tombstones have been preserved in the approximately 850 m² Jewish cemetery .

history

The first burial in the cemetery took place around 1740. It was expanded in 1800 and 1821. The last burial took place in 1918. The cemetery continued to be maintained until 1937, although the town's Jewish community was dissolved in 1922 or connected to the Güstrow community.

The cemetery was desecrated during the National Socialist era . After 1945, it was restored on the orders of the Soviet city ​​commanders .

In 1955 the Bützow collegiate church bought the burial site and signed a maintenance contract.

At the beginning of September 2002 the cemetery was desecrated again: ten tombstones were knocked over and partially destroyed; Gravestones were sprayed with Nazi symbols.
