history

It is not known how old the Jewish cemetery is. It was probably used until around 1920 and maintained until 1938 - the Jewish community dissolved in 1919. In 1947 the city council decided that the cemetery should be restored. This decision was implemented in April 1951 by around 50 citizens of Dömitz in a joint action. The tombstones were erected and the fencing was renewed.
