Cross of Villeranque

The cross of Villeranque in Avensan , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was erected in the 16th century. In 1926, the cross was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as a monument historique .

The monumental cross stands on the Way of St. James , the road from Tours to Bordeaux .

The base of the cross, which bears the coat of arms of the Lords of Avensan, stands on a five-tiered plinth.
