Passion Cross in Monségur

The Passion Cross in Monségur , a French commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was erected in 1808. In 2011, the Passion Cross was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as a Monument historique .

The wrought iron cross was made by the local blacksmith . It represents Jesus' instruments of passion . The inscription INRI is crowned by a rooster, which reminds of the denial of the apostle Peter .
