history

The dead of the Jewish community in Oberursel were initially buried in the old Jewish cemetery in Homburg , which existed as early as the 17th century. The last burial is said to have taken place there around 1790. Then burials took place in the Jewish cemetery in Seulberg . In 1862, a Jewish cemetery was set up in Oberursel and it was used for the first time that year. The installation took place in the corridor "Auf dem Bacheller". Until the Nazi era - until the violent dissolution of the Jewish community in Oberursel - it was the burial place of the deceased Oberursel Jews. 40 tombstones have been preserved. The condition is mostly not very weathered and standing.
