Jewish cemetery (Rülzheim)
The Jewish cemetery Rülzheim is a Jewish cemetery in Rülzheim , a municipality in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate . The cemetery is located directly on the road between Rülzheim and Herxheimweyher .
history
The Jewish community of Rülzheim initially buried its dead in the Jewish cemeteries in Essingen and Ingenheim . The own cemetery was created in 1826. It was the association cemetery of the following Jewish communities: Bellheim, Germersheim, Hagenbach, Kuhardt, Leimersheim and Rülzheim.
The cemetery, which was documented in 1903, has an area of 48.80 ares and today there are still about 420 tombstones ( mazewot ).
time of the nationalsocialism
The cemetery was destroyed and devastated during the Nazi era . Some of the tombstones were used to build roads. After 1945 the cemetery was restored as much as possible.
