Jewish cemetery (Staßfurt)
The Jewish cemetery of the cities of Staßfurt and Leopoldshall is a Jewish cemetery in Staßfurt in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It is a cultural monument .
The approximately 200 m² cemetery , which is located next to the general cemetery on Hecklinger Strasse, is surrounded by a massive quarry stone wall or a fence at the back. There are still about ten tombstones on it .
history
The cemetery was laid out in 1870. The first burial took place in 1872. The last burial was in 1921. During the Nazi era , the cemetery was desecrated several times, also in 2003 and 2010. In 1987 a memorial plaque was put up.
