Jürgen Beyer (born June 14, 1936 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German internist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1954, Beyer studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main , where he also became a member of the Corps Austria . He finished his studies with the medical state examination in 1961 and his doctorate in 1964. In 1970 he qualified as a professor in Frankfurt for the subject of internal medicine. From 1971 to 1974 he was Deputy Director of the Center for Internal Medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , before moving to the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Clinic in 1974 as Head of the Department of Endocrinology . In 1984 and 1985 he was President of the German Diabetes Society . In 1994 he founded the society “Diabetes und Endokrinologie Rheinland Pfalz e. V. “and was its chairman until 2001. At the same time he was director of the clinic and polyclinic for internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz clinic from 1995 until his retirement in 2001 .
