Jürgen F. Schopp

Jürgen Franz Schopp (born January 7, 1946 in Waldkirchen ) is a Finnish linguist and translation scholar .

Live and act

After his apprenticeship as a typesetter at Schwabenverlag AG Stuttgart between 1960 and 1963, Jürgen F. Schopp worked as a typesetter's assistant in Stuttgart and in The Hague , Netherlands. From 1969 he attended evening grammar school and passed his Abitur in 1972. From 1972 to 1976 he studied Nordic Philology with the minor subjects German Philology , Folklore and Archeology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . There he worked as a research assistant in the field of book cataloging. He completed his studies in 1977 with a Magister Artium . From 1975 to 1977 he was enrolled as a student at the Åbo Akademi in Turku, Finland, where he majored in Germanic philology and a minor in Nordic philology and Nordic folklore. From 1978 he was himself a lecturer at the German Institute of the University. He completed his studies in 1979 with a degree in Philosophy Candidate . Finally, at the University of Tampere , he completed postgraduate studies with a major in Finnish-German translation. Here he worked as a lecturer at the Institute for German Philology and at the Institute for Linguistics and Translation Studies (until 1992 Institute for Translation and Interpreter Training; until 2001 Institute for Translation Studies). In 1996 he obtained a degree in philosophy and in 2005 a doctorate in philosophy. Schopp has now retired .
