Jürgen Gerhard

Jürgen Gerhard (* 1947 in Leipzig ) is a German painter .

After graduating from high school, Gerhard learned the profession of typesetter , which he practiced in Leipzig from 1966 to 1967. From 1968 he studied ten semesters at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig and graduated in 1973 with a diploma. Since then he has been working as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In 1976 he moved to Hohen Neuendorf in Brandenburg , where he has also had his own studio since 1978. From 1986 to 1990 Gerhard was an honorary lecturer at the Technical School for Advertising and Design in Berlin-Schöneweide . Since 1990 he has lectured at the adult education center and from 2000 to 2004 held a teaching position for figurative drawing at the "Konrad Wolf" University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg .

Gerhard's works have been shown in solo exhibitions and participation in exhibitions, primarily in the area of ​​the former GDR , but also in Hanoi , London , Minsk , Moscow and Prague . Some of his work is in public ownership and in numerous museums, including the Lindenau Museum Altenburg , Märkisches Museum Berlin or the Otto-Dix-Haus .

Jürgen Gerhard has been married to the ceramist Frauke Seifert since 1975 and lives with her in Hohen Neuendorf .
