Jürgen Heinrich (youth functionary)

Jürgen Heinrich (born June 10, 1948 in Potsdam ) is a former German youth functionary ( FDJ ). He was general director of the travel agency Jugendtourist .

Life

Heinrich, the son of a teacher, attended high school with a high school diploma and learned the trade of construction mechanic in the Potsdam construction and assembly plant. In 1963 he joined the Free German Youth (FDJ) and in 1969 the Socialist Unity Party of Germany . After his military service with the National People's Army (1967-69), Heinrich studied until 1973 at the Technical University of Ilmenau , graduating as a graduate engineer for the construction and technology of electronics and precision engineering.

From 1973 to 1978 he was an employee, secretary for Agitprop and from 1975 first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Suhl . From September 1978 to 1980 he worked as second secretary and then - as the successor to Rosita Kleinpeter - from May 1980 to March 1983 as first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Suhl . At the same time he was a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership. In 1983 he became deputy general director of the FDJ travel agency Jugendtourist and was then - as successor to Klaus Eichler - its general director from May 1984 to 1990.

From 1981 to 1988 Heinrich was also a member of the Central Council of the FDJ and from June 1984 to 1989 also a member of its office. After Erich Honecker's visit to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1987 , during which a further expansion of the tourist youth exchange was agreed, he signed in November 1987 with the German tour operators " Reiseienst Deutscher Studentenschaften ", "Intercontact", "Hansatourist", " CVJM Hamburg" and " German Youth Hostel Association " contracts for the promotion and further development of tourist youth exchanges between the GDR and the FRG in 1988.

Jürgen Heinrich is married and has two children.
