Jürgen Kaempgen

Jürgen Kämpgen (born May 30, 1940 in Berlin ; † June 7, 2017 in Duisburg ) was a graduate economist / Dr. rer. pole. and councilor of the city of Duisburg as well as member of the CDU , member of the founding supervisory board of the Society for Economic Development Duisburg, supervisory board of the Ruhrgebiet Tourismus Management GmbH (Essen), federal delegate of the European Union Germany and honorary chairman of the European Union Duisburg-Niederrhein.

Awards

Kämgen had been the recipient of the First Class Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany since 2004 . The Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class was awarded to Kämpgen for his decades of commitment to the dissemination and deepening of the idea of ​​European unification. Kämpgen has also been involved in local politics in Duisburg since 1969 and has been active in regional politics for many years, including in the Düsseldorf District Planning Council , the Ruhr Area Association in Essen, the Ruhr Regional Association and vice-chairman of the Economic Committee, Rhein-Waal Regional Council (until 2005).
