Jürgen Knauss

Jürgen Knauss (born March 14, 1938 in Darmstadt ) is a German entrepreneur and photographer .

Life

Knauss is a trained typesetter and studied graphics . Knauss is married to the publisher Claudia Knauss.

Career

At the beginning of his career, Knauss worked for a printing company in Brazil . After he met Friedrich W. Heye in 1964, he began to work as a magazine layouter for Heye Verlag , including for the special interest magazine "Boats". In 1971 Knauss met the founder of McDonald's , Ray Kroc , in Munich , which led to a 40-year marketing partnership. In 1974 Knauss became the sole managing director of the Heye & Partner advertising agency. In 1984 he was appointed to the board of directors of Needham Worldwide (now DDB ). After the death of Friedrich W. Heye in 1988, Knauss and his wife Claudia took over Heye Verlag in 1989.

In 2003, Knauss and his agency developed the McDonald's slogan I love it , which won a worldwide competition between 14 agencies; he is known as the maker of this slogan.

He resigned as CEO de Heye advertising agency in 2007 and was honorary chairman until 2014. In 2010, under Jürgen and Claudia Knauss, Heye Verlag merged with calendar publisher Mannheim to form KV&H Verlag GmbH. In 2012 Jürgen and Claudia Knauss left Heye Verlag.

In 2014 Knauss founded + Knauss Verlag together with his wife Claudia; he appears in the publications as Yussof Knauss. In 2015, the + Knauss workshop was opened in Munich. Some of his photographic work is shown in exhibitions.
