The Heye Verlag is a 1962 by Friedrich Wilhelm Heye († 1988), was established, with offices in Unterhaching near Munich. The publisher initially published magazines such as the BMW Journal . In 1964 the first calendar was created with the title “Dumb sayings for intelligent people”, a promotional gift. The popular “family planner” calendar is, according to the publisher, an invention. Other parts of the program are puzzles and utility books / stationery . Games were also made between 1990 and 1995. In 1972 Heye introduced Guillermo Mordillo, the first cartoonist, to the program. The first film license was "Star Wars". Today Heye Verlag is one of the three largest calendar publishers in Germany. As a puzzle provider, it occupies a place in the German top 10.

Together with the Bibliographisches Institut & FA Brockhaus , Heye Verlag founded the KV&H Verlag holding company in 2008 , which has been operating under the name Athesia Kalenderverlag since December 1, 2017 .

Jürgen Horbach is the managing director of the holding company.
