Jürgen Resch (* 1960 in Plochingen ) has been Federal Managing Director of Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) since 1988 .

Life

Jürgen Resch was born in Plochingen, Württemberg. As a teenager, Resch became a board member of the Lake Constance Conservation Group in 1975 . This was followed at the beginning of the 1980s by the chairmanship of the regional association Bodensee-Oberschwaben at the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation eV (BUND). In 1981 he finished school with a high school diploma and then did his community service . During this time he collected dead birds of prey and identified the mouse poison Endrin as the cause. At the Federal Biological Research Center in Braunschweig, he obtained a ban on the sale and trade of the poison. Resch studied from 1983 to 1986 at the University of Konstanz administrative science , but remained without a (professional) degree. During this period, the BUND campaign department was set up and, at the same time, work as a personal advisor to Federal Chairman Gerhard Thielcke . In 1986 he became assistant to the then federal chairman Hermut Ruland at DUH. In 1988 he became federal manager of DUH and dropped out of his studies.

Resch became known to a broader public in the wake of the diesel exhaust scandal , which environmental aid helped to uncover. The DUH brought about a series of administrative court decisions through legal channels, which contributed to compliance with the applicable guidelines. In order to implement this, some municipalities were forced to issue driving bans .

Resch is a co-founder of the Euronatur Foundation , the Global Nature Fund and the Lake Constance Foundation as well as a member of the board of trustees of the “Initiative Mehrweg” foundation.
