Toxicological data
As far as possible and customary, SI units are used. Unless otherwise noted, the data given apply to standard conditions .

Endrin is an insecticide that was mainly used in cotton and grain cultivation . It was also used as a rodenticide to control voles (trade names: e.g. Mäuse-Kindrin, Fagazid-Vole remedy). However, this application has been prohibited since August 8, 1982.

Endrin is a powerful neurotoxin . In the body of humans and animals, endrin is less concentrated than the stereoisomeric dieldrin . The half-life in the soil can be up to twelve years. Endrin is very toxic to fish.

Analytical evidence

The chemical-analytical detection in environmental samples, food and animal feed is carried out after suitable sample preparation to separate the matrix and gas chromatographic separation of minor components by high-resolution mass spectrometry techniques such as flight mass spectrometry (Time-Of-Flight mass spectrometry).

Prohibition

In Stockholm Convention of 22 May 2001 for a worldwide ban on the manufacture, sale and use of twelve was persistent organic pollutants ( POP = persistent organic pollutants ) ratified. Among that " dirty dozen " is Endrin. Since May 17, 2004, following ratification by the 50th accession state, the Convention has gained global legal validity .
