Jürgen Seibel

Jürgen Seibel (born May 9, 1971 in Eschwege , Hessen ) is a German chemist . He is Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

Life and education

Seibel studied from 1992 to 1997 chemistry at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen and was established in 2000 in Lutz Tietze Friedjan at the Institute of Organic Chemistry via antibody-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of vitamin E doctorate . In 2000 he moved to Oxford University , where he did research in the Dyson Perrins Laboratory. From 2002 to 2009 he was a university assistant at the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research and the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Technical University of Braunschweig , where he completed his habilitation on the subject of "Tools for Glycomics: Chemical and Enzymatic Glycosylation Methods for the Synthesis and Detection of Biologically Relevant Glycoconjugates". In the same year he was appointed private lecturer .

Since 2009 he has been a professor at the Institute for Organic Chemistry at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg.

Jürgen Seibel's main areas of work include the development of chemical and enzymatic syntheses , biocatalysis , protein engineering , drug delivery and glycosciences. He also deals with methods for bioorthogonal chemistry in living systems. He is the editor of the journal Nature Research C .
