Jürgen Seifert (born May 21, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player. For SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and BSG Wismut Aue he played 37 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . With SC Wismut, he was GDR soccer champion in 1959.

Athletic career

In 1958, Seifert was included in the top division squad of previous year's champions SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt, who were based in Aue . On the 6th matchday he came as a substitute for the first time and played a total of 13 point games by the end of the season. He was usually called up as a central midfielder. Of the eight games in the 1958/59 European Cup , with which SC Wismut advanced to the quarter-finals, Seifert played seven games and scored his only competitive goal for the Wismut team in the encounter IFK Göteborg - SC Wismut (2-2). Despite this hopeful start, Seifert was unable to assert himself as a regular player in the following seasons. Up to his last season in 1963/64 (since 1961 the summer-spring season had been returned) he was only used in 37 games in his six seasons in the 169 league games played. In 1959 he was GDR champion with seven missions. On the last day of the 1963/64 season he ended his career in higher-class football with the match between SC Leipzig and BSG Wismut Aue (1-0 - SC Wismut had been converted into BSG Wismut Aue in 1963).
