Jürgen Terhag
Jürgen Terhag is a German music teacher .
Life
Terhag studied music , English and pedagogy for teaching ( secondary level I) at the Rhineland University of Education . He then worked as a teacher at the Leverkusen Comprehensive School before doing his doctorate on teaching pop music with Walter Gieseler at the University of Cologne . From 1991 to 1996 he was head of the music department at the Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Remscheid and since 1996 he has been professor of music education at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne. From 1998 he worked as a court expert for musical copyright, a. a. for Kraftwerk , Dr. Motte and Richard Clayderman . Since 2001 he has been chairman of the regional committee of " Jugend musiziert " for Cologne. Since 2015 he has been honorary president of the Federal Association for Music Education. There are numerous publications by Terhag. The focus is on teaching pop music, making music in classes and, in particular, learning live arrangements. In 2010 he founded the gay and lesbian choir in Cologne.
For Jürgen Terhag the motto applies:
"When making music with groups, the sentence" I'll show you what you have to learn "should always be replaced by:" I'll show you what you can already do "in order to recognize the musical potential dormant in each (!) Group through music making processes, to be able to promote and continuously transfer into learning anew. "

- Since 2015: Honorary President of the Federal Association for Music Education (BMU)
