Jürgen Timm (born September 15, 1936 in Grebin ) is a German politician of the FDP . From 1980 to 1983 and again from 1987 to 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag for a total of three electoral terms .

Life

Jürgen Timm attended secondary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a fitter, which he finished in 1956. He then worked for the Stadtwerke in Kiel until 1957. After an internship in a foundry, he then studied at the State Engineering School in Kiel until 1960, which he graduated from with a degree in mechanical engineering and space technology. After completing his studies, he worked as an engineer in construction in Neumünster. He worked there until 1964, after which he started as an engineer at ERNO Raumfahrttechnik GmbH in Bremen, where he worked until the end of the 1980s. He has been retired since 1999. He is married and has three children and three grandchildren.

Within the FDP, Timm was chairman of the Stuhr local association from 1972 to 1998 and is currently an assessor and treasurer . Since 1998 he has been federal manager of the Liberal Initiative Mittelstand and then its federal treasurer. In addition, in 2003 and 2004, he was a member of the Lower Saxony state board and delegate to the federal board of the Liberal Mittelstand eV As deputy state chairman of the Association of Liberal Local Politicians eV, he was active from 1988 to 2004. From 1996 to 1998 he was managing director of the FDP-affiliated Rudolf von Bennigsen Foundation .

He took on several offices within his party at the county, district and state level. From 1974 to 1977 he was a member of the district management and was a member of the Diepholz district board . There he took on the role of deputy chairman from 1996 to 2002 and was an assessor until 2006. From 1980 to 1986 he was chairman and then until 1994 deputy chairman of the Osnabrück district association . From 1976 to 1994 he was elected member of the board of the Lower Saxony regional association.

For the FDP he sat on the municipal level since 1972 and was deputy mayor until 1991. In the municipal council he sat on the administrative committee, the committee for traffic, order and social affairs, the reallocation committee and the school committee.
