Jürgen Wechsler

Jürgen Wechsler (born November 26, 1955 in Schwanstetten ) is a German trade unionist, former supervisory board member and former district manager of IG Metall Bavaria.

Life

Wechsler attended primary school in Schwanstetten until 1971. He then did an apprenticeship at Siemens and then worked at Siemens Trafo Union in Nuremberg. In 1975 and 1976 he did his military service in the Navy .

He has been a member of IG Metall since 1972. Between 1978 and 1989 he was a delegate and representative at the respective meetings and works council . From 1986 he was an exempt works council. Since 1986 he has been a member of the M + E Bavaria tariff commission . Since 1993 he has been a delegate at trade union days . From 1989 to 1992 he was political secretary of the IG Metall administration office in Nuremberg, where he also helped set up the Dübeln / Grimma administration office. After that he was the second authorized representative until 2008 . Until his appointment as district manager of IG Metall Bayern in 2010, he was the first authorized representative. In October 2018 he wants to give up his office.

Between 1984 and 1992 he was an honorary labor judge and from 1990 to 2008 a member of the supervisory board at AEG Hausgeräte / Electrolux . Since 1997 he has been a member of the SPD and the administrative board of AOK Bavaria . He has been a member of the supervisory board of Schaeffler AG and BMW AG since October 2010 and of Siemens Healthineers since June 2015 . On June 27, 2018, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

He took part in the 2017 election of the German Federal President for the SPD.
